Hard Rock CEO, Richard “Boz” Bosworth has revealed that the transformation of Hard Rock Las Vegas into Virgin Hotels Las Vegas is expected to take 8 months, meaning the property will be closed in early February 2020 (immediately after the Superbowl weekend) and will reopen in late 2020.

One difficulty with closing a property for such a length of time is how to retain employees, so Virgin have introduced an innovative “Stick Around and Come Back” (surely they could have come up with a better, snappier name?!?) scheme , where the resorts 1800 employees will be offered cash bonuses, won’t need new interviews to retain their old jobs, and will be welcomed back with open arms. Virgin are believed to understand that Hard Rock staff are amongst the best in Las Vegas, so will be eager to see as many of them return as possible.
Boz is managing expectations with the opening date, stating that construction is an imperfect process, so they are being flexible with the reopening date, a sensible approach given the huge delays that have been the bane of Las Vegas projects for many decades.
