Wynn’s new Paradise Park development will be powered entirely by energy from a dedicated solar power supply to be located almost 400 miles away near Fallon, the gaming company has announced.
By partnering with Enel Green Power North America Inc. Wynn will be supplying up to 20 megawatts of electricity daily, enough to provide the new $1.5B resort with its entire energy needs. Mind you in order to do that, it requires rather a large solar array, a 160 acre solar array. Yes. One hundred and Sixty Acres. Enel will own and operate Wynn’s solar facility, and the electricity supplied by the site will be exclusively used to power Wynn Paradise Park – which is located just east of Wynn / Encore on the site of the former Desert Inn Golf Club. A golf club where I shot my only ever sub 80 round!

The new resort will boast a 47 story, 1500 room hotel, and the obligatory convention centre, and a typical Wynn water feature, this time a 38- acre lagoon ringed by a white sandy beach. Wynn Chairman Steve Wynn has said the Carnival-themed development will have a nightly parade of floats on the lagoon, fireworks, ziplines, a carousel and a high-tech bumper-car attraction.
Erik Hansen, Wynn’s director of energy procurement, said the solar array is slated to go online within the next few months and will deliver enough power to offset up to 75 percent of Wynn Las Vegas’ peak power requirements until Paradise Park is completed.
