The ailing North end of Las Vegas Strip looks set to receive a series of welcome boosts over the next couple of years, which is about time, as for a number of years, the strip north of Wynn-Encore has long been the poor relation of the rest of the glamorous strip.
The Sahara name has returned with the SLS Las Vegas officially changing its name ‘back’ to Sahara, with the name revealed in a demolition ceremony for the Sam by Starck statue featuring fireworks and flames. Having changed hands in late 2018, SLS was struggling and its new owners will be hoping that relaunching the resort with such an iconic name will help reinvigorate its fortunes.

Sahara’s return isn’t the only good news for the north end of the strip. Malaysia’s Genting Group have announced that after many many years of stalling and delay, they expect Phase one of Resorts World Las Vegas to open by the end of 2020, which will be a huge boost for the strip and Vegas as a whole.
Fontainebleau resort was started way back in 2007, but the economic downturn lead to the the collapse of the project, however after billionaire Carl Icahn bought the development plot fora knock down $150M, and then sold it largely untouched for a hefty $600M, The Drew, as it is now known is due to open in 2022.
It is only going to take a couple or three big resort openings to totally transform the north strip, and we can’t wait to see it!
